Homage to the great names in animation who have passed away since the last Festival: Roy Edward Disney, Pierre Levie and Te Wei.
Take a look at the films that made them famous.
Roy Edward Disney (1930-2009), as a producer at Disney, he always supported the creativity of the company and was behind such films as Aladdin (1992), The Lion King (1994) amongst others... Receiving the Disney Legends Award in 1998, he defended animation there with his own personal savings. Screening of extracts from Destino, a film made from sketches by Salvador Dali.
Pierre Levie (1916-2010) gave himself challenges throughout his career and produced varied and creative films. He also founded the European production company Eva that concentrated its work in France, Wales and Germany.

Te Wei (1915-2010): Chinese master of the animated art, Te Wei is one of the most important animators of his generation. He was awarded the Asifa award in 1995 in Annecy and also managed art studios in Shanghai that promoted Chinese animation in general.

The pinscreen or the dream of animated engraving.
"The screen is made up of a vertical panel with a white surface perforated with some 250,000 holes for the pins that can pushed through to varying degrees. When a light is shone on the screen each pin casts a shadow on the white surface"(Jacques Drouin Press Kit).

A mad attempt at celebrating 50 years of the Festival in less than 70 minutes! Spark debates, get people talking, surprise and astound, all in 50 (very) short films? OK, off we go! Don't blink or you'll miss it!"

Students from 7 schools had a month to make a film with some particular specifications: a given subject (birthdays), a running time (45 seconds to 1 minute) and a specific target audience (from 4 to 14 years).
