Calls for Projects

About
The Creative Focus supports the creation of animated films by giving them visibility and promotion. One of its main objectives is to present the most creative projects to help them get off the ground.
Projects are divided into four categories:
- short films
- feature films
- TV series and specials
- Cross-media / Mifa Global Media Connect (Mifa GMC)
All the projects are selected by a committee of experts and then presented during the Creative Focus.
Who?
Students, authors and film directors looking for work collaborators/partners.
Producers, broadcasters, production and animation studios, TV channels etc. looking to help the films of tomorrow.

273 projects were submitted in 2012 including:

Canal France International/Creative Focus workshop: Spotlight on African animation
The goal of this workshop is to spotlight African animation projects and to support their development. The four African animation projects will also benefit from the expertise and guidance of the professionals.

The CITIA/Imaginove/Forum Blanc prize will be awarded by a panel of 7 cross-media professionals:
- Alexandre Michelin, Director of MSN Europe
- Tiphaine de Raguenel, Head of Marketing and New Uses from Lagardère Active
- Pierre Mathieu, Deputy Director of online gaming for e-TF1
- Marianne Levy Leblond, Head of Web Productions and Transmedia Projects for Arte France
- Alex Berger, founding CEO of Entjoy
- Tanguy Selo, Chief Executive at Imaginove
The France Télévisions prize for New Writing offers a project development contract to a project selected by France Télévisions. It will be presented by Boris Razon, Head of New Writing and Transmedia for France Télévisions and Voyelle Acker, deputy director of New Writing and Transmedia for France Télévisions.
The Ina EXPERT prize offers a 2-day workshop at Ina EXPERT. It will be presented by Jean-François Gervais, Web and Transmedia Teaching Manager at Ina EXPERT.
Network with leaders in the industry, such as Terence Mosca and Olivier Missir, President of Brandcasterz ; Frédéric Josué, Project Manager for Havas Media and Julien Hodara, Vice President of Orange Vallée ‒ Orange Groupe.

Françoise Mas (CFI buyer), Joachim Hérissé (director) and Stéphanie Launay (Head of Creative Focus) are the members of the jury.
Organised in association with Canal France International, this focus has been initiated by CFI and is intended to identify African animation talent and to support the local development of animation film production.

Short film category
- Ciclic Prize: €30,000 plus a 6-month residency at Château-Renault (Centre) to make the film.
- Rhône-Alpes Cinéma/Bourse des Festivals Prize: €7,600, plus 50 % from the CNC toward production costs for the award-winning short.
- "La Résidence ©" de Folimage Prize: residency at Folimage Studio, at the Cartoucherie, Bourg-lès-Valence (Drôme), for a period of 8 to 12 months.
- Arte France Prize: pre-purchase of a short film for broadcast on the TV magazine Court-circuit.
- SACD Prize: €5,000 plus an invitation for the winner to the Festival (travel + 2 nights hotel stay).
- Abbaye de Fontevraud Prize: a month's residency at the Abbaye de Fontevraud (Maine-et-Loire).
- Cube Creative Productions Prize: one-month residency at Cube Creative Studio (Paris) with technical assistance provided to develop the winning project.
TV series and specials category
- Disney Channel's New Series Prize: €5,000 for project development.
Feature Film category
- Cine Regio Prize (C.R.I.C. C.R.A.C. – CineRegio Interregional Contest for Creative Animation Content): €15,000 for the development of the chosen project
Cross-media category
- CITIA/Imaginove/Forum Blanc Prize: an invitation to the Forum Blanc 2013 and software from Adobe Education, Creative Focus' official partner.
- France Télévisions Prize for new writing: a project development contract with judges France Télévisions.
- Ina EXPERT Prize : a two-day workshop at Ina EXPERT.
In all categories, "Favourite" Mention: a TVPaint Animation software.
