Each year there are a number of free exhibitions during the Festival at La Turbine media library in Cran-Gevrier, the municipal library in Annecy, the baladoir exhibition space at Bonlieu and the Courier centre.



 


Graphic arts exhibition: A Trip through Servaisgraphy

The animation film collection at the Annecy museums have had some recent additions.


You will be able to discover some new material from the Master of Belgian contemporary animation Raoul Servais, whose inventions include Servaisography, a technique to integrate live action into animated backgrounds. The exhibition is spotlighting material from two of his films using this technique, Taxandria and Nocturnal Butterflies, Grand Prix winner at Annecy 1998.

During the exhibition on the theme of Ice Age 4, take part as an animator or actor to achieve a life-sized animated film in the Courier Centre, Annecy.


Indeed, the AAA studios is taking a look at the evolution of humanity: from bacteria to cave paintings.

Find out about animation cinema and its techniques frame by frame through stop motion and pixilation.

Shooting from 30th May to 9th June 2012, from 1:30 to 4:30 pm. Free entry

Ireland is the guest of honour this year at the International Animation Film Festival.

Find out more about this animated country at CITIA Exhibition. This will include some original material from the feature Brendan and the Secret of Kells, a film inspired by the illuminations of an emblem of medieval religious art in Ireland, the Book of Kells.


The film was directed by Irish filmmaker Tomm Moore in 2008, and received the Audience Award at Annecy 2009 as well as a nomination for best animated feature at the Oscars in 2010.

Before its official release in September 2012, come and and have a look at some of the pictures from Patrice Leconte's comedy feature The Suicide Shop.


"Imagine a city where people no longer have a taste for life, so much so that the shop that sells poison and rope does the best trade. But things will change when the boss gives birth to a child who is the joy of life incarnate. At the Suicide Shop, trouble is about to start..."

Rediscover the fabulous story of Esteban, Zia and Tao travelling through Latin America in the 16th Century.

The TV series ended in the 1980s with the discovery of one of the seven golden cities. Now, the gang head off in search of another city, this time in China.


This new exhibition gives us a behind-the-scenes look at the famous series, from the '80s to today.

Have a sneak preview of the graphic style, original designs, storyboards from the old and new seasons as well as expression boards of the three heros Esteban, Zia, Tao and other characters from the series.

There are also videos, making of, original boards from the next manga, DVD boxed sets, collector's items, etc.

We wait with impatience for the follow-up of these passionate adventures, version 21st Century.

Visit the workshop exhibition for the film The Mouse with the Mouth created by Jean Philippe Salvadori and directed by Andréa Kiss.


This exhibition has evolved into a teaching tool by becoming a workshop. It explains the work involved in directing a paper cut-outs animation film.

It also presents unfinished and finished film extracts, as well as question and answer sessions.
