As part of Annecy’s tribute to France, this documentary on the nation’s animation scene puts the spotlight on its fast-paced and changing industry.

More popular than ever, French animation embraces all kinds of techniques and aesthetics. In this three-part documentary, you can tag along to survey its new scene. You’ll also meet the artists, from rising talents to reputed masters, who happily walk you through this detailed inspection.

The third chapter of this trilogy: Films with Endless Possibilities.

Animation lends itself to all sorts of techniques, inventions and formats – from paper cut-outs to 3D, from cartoons to animated painting, from motion capture to stop-motion – one frame at a time. In Romain Delerps and Alexandre Hilaire’s documentary, Florence Miailhe, Christian Volkman, Benjamin Renner and other filmmakers present the individual approach to their work, whether traditional or a new trend.

The DVD box set (Doriane Films) of this documentary is for sale at the Boutique du Festival @ bdfugue.
