Women and Animation – The Future is Woman

  1. Overview
  2. Description
  3. Films

Annecy 2015 wanted to pay tribute to all the women who have helped to change attitudes and promote female expression in the world of animation. "The Future is Woman", a title borrowed from Marco Ferreri, poignantly defines this programme headed towards the future.

Young filmmakers are opening new doors, offering original imagery, tackling a wide range of topics and using a multitude of techniques. From Yoriko Mizushiri's delicate eroticism to Cerise Lopez and Agnès Patron's exploration of Native American culture... From Jasmine Elsen's vision of the elderly to Anna Budanova's perspective of wounded souls... From Jung Yumi's surreal dream world to Anu-Laura Tuttelberg's wild imagination... From Michaela Müller's perception of holidays to Yantong Zhu's evocation of childhood...

This programme is a looking glass into the rising forces of animation, coming from all four corners of the world and surprising us with their originality and audacity, making films that promise a bright future for animation.
