Feature film project

Le Faune

Le Faune

Project leader: JPL films
Director: Augusto Zanovello
France
Mifa Pitches 2015 partner prize: Western Digital

What will you remember from this Mifa Pitch experience?
It gave us some visibility, to set up our own place – Komadoli Studio – and especially to meet Jean-Pierre Lemouland, who was winding up work on Jean-François Laguionie's feature Louise en hiver, and was looking for a new feature project for adults. He was very taken with Le Faune.

What's your project's current status?
We're writing the first version of the screenplay at Komadoli with Jean-Charles Finck and we're developing the graphics and doing a 50-second teaser with JPL films, ready for Cartoon Movie at the beginning of March.

How has the partner prize helped in the development of your project?
Western Digital gave us a NAS hard drive that we use to store data remotely, which is a great saving.

A few words about your participation at the Mifa Pitches?
It was an excellent experience to pitch the project to a knowledgable crowd and be in competition with other interesting projects. It also enabled us to meet different people like producers, musicians, writers and technicians.

Hide-and-Seek

Project leaders: Anne Huynh and Jean Regnaud
Director: Anne Huynh
France
Mifa Pitch Partner Prize: Rhône-Alpes Cinéma/Bourse des festivals Prize

Folimage

What will you remember from this Mifa Pitch experience?
I will particularly remember the contacts I made and the incredible energy. For the project and its progress, but also from a personal point of view. The networking that followed helped the project no end. The whole thing was a great springboad as we meet several producers, including our current producer, Folimage. Folimage.

What's your project's current status?
The project is in the process of being re-written and developed before going into production. We're looking for funding and should have some answers in the middle of 2016.

How has the partner prize helped in the development of your project?
We were very surprised to get the Rhône-Alpes Cinéma/Bourse des festivals prize. This is great support for the project, financially as well as from the encouragements we've received. The prize is also good promotion for finding other funding and for the production.

A few words about your participation at the Mifa Pitches?
We were very pleased to take part in the Pitches and the exchanges after were also profitable. The format of the sessions showed off each project and it was a real exercise to prepare the pitch and present it to an audience of experts. We were also able to meet other creatives whose opinions were interesting to hear.
In short, its a great incubator for creatives which gives a good overview of current creation, with a genuine support network.

Mifa Pitch Partner Prize 2015: Disney Channel Prize for a New Series

What will you remember from this Mifa Pitch experience?
Being a part of the Mifa Pitch Session was really helpful for our project and incredibly fun on a personal level. We didn’t only get helpful feedback from producers, and a wide variety of animation professionals who attended the session, we also got to meet other people with amazing projects from all over the world, which in itself was inspiring and made us think about the way to make our series even better.

What’s your project’s current status?
We are currently finishing the development and the pre-production stage of our project. We already have the financial support of the Chilean Government for the process we’re working on – the production part –, so right now we are in conversation with some Latin-American, European, and Asian animation studios and broadcasters looking for co-production partners.

How was the partner prize helped in the development of your project?
We won the Disney Award and since then we have had the support of the Disney EMEA team to improve some artistic and production details of the project. Besides the financial support that came with the prize, the most valuable part of this award was having the opinions of expert professionals on the development of our project. The Legend of Zeta & Ozz is now a much more well-rounded project because of it, we like it even more ourselves and apparently so do they as we still keep in touch trying to make this work for their market.

A few words about your participation at the Mifa Pitches?
The Annecy Festival and Mifa were fundamental for the further development of our project. All the meetings we had with different network executives, production companies and even animation students were not only really informative and full of creative feedback, but also a huge rush of energy to keep us working on our series. The enthusiasm of all the people that attend the Festival is infectious and really pushed us to work harder and make the best product we possibly can. We highly encourage other project leaders and their teams to take part in the pitches, competitions and in the Festival in general.

Troubling Monsters

Project leaders: María Laura Piaggio Fonterosa, Marcelo Dematei and Carlos Eduardo Smith Róvira
Directors: Marcelo Dematei and Carlos Eduardo Smith Róvira
Transmedia director: María Laura Piaggio Fonterosa
Spain, France and Colombia

What will you remember from this Mifa Pitch experience?
We met up with our French co-producer, Planet Nemo Interactive during Mifa and we noticed some real interest from important European broadcasters.

What's your project's current status?
We're in the final stages of development. After signing with Planet Nemo Interactive, we decided to make the project more interesting for the international market.
We're also working on the pilot of the TV series and we hope to confirm support from the Catalan public development fund and the Columbian public channel Señal Colombia.

A few words about your participation at the Mifa Pitches?
Annecy has always been a great place to visit if you work in animation, for both its market and its inspiring festival. Our first transmedia project, Old Folks' Tales, was also launched and rewarded at the Mifa Pitches in 2012. A year later it was in production... We're hoping for the same luck with Troubling Monsters!
