Sahara

  1. Overview
  2. Description

Between a love quest and the pursuit of personal excellence, discover the wonderful story of Ajar the snake and Pitt the scorpion in the heart of the Sahara Desert.

Presented as a Work in Progress at Annecy 2016, where producers Christian Ronget and Michel Cortey came to give us a behind-the-scenes tour of Sahara, this year the film will be shown under the stars on the Pâquer.

Directed by Pierre Coré and released in February, Sahara portrays the extraordinary adventures of a snake named Ajar and his loyal sidekick scorpion, Pitt. Sick and tired of being the laughing stock of their community and the target of incessant teasing, the two buddies decide to pack their bags and run off to the neighbouring oasis, home to the Sahara’s upper class, and Eva in particular, a charming snake that Ajar has fallen madly in love with.

Eager, willing and inspired by love, the friendly pair take off on a crazy life-changing adventure.

Chronicles of the 9th Art

La Dent by Guy Delisle
Screened as an opener, the short film La Dent, is an adaptation of Guy Delisle’s comic book about the delayed delivery of a gift from the little mouse (aka tooth fairy).

This short is part of Chronicles of the 9th Art, a collection presented by the NFB, CANAL+ and Sacrebleu Productions that pays tribute to the great affinity between two art forms: comic books and animation. Comprised of four shorts that will be screened during "The Art of Storytelling, from Comics to Animation" Masterclass, this collection will give you an appreciation for the style and imagination of renowned creators from France and Quebec; graphic novelists who are trying their hands at filmmaking.
