Comics Mifa Pitches

New for 2020
Launched in 2020, at the same time as the Cultural Ministry is promoting "The Year of Comics", this new Pitches category is designed to cross-over the arts and initiate connections between strong graphic universes and producers interested in adapting them into animation. The stage is thus handed over to writers, selected by a Selection Committee and in partnership with international Comic book events.

The connections between comics and animated film are not new, but the Annecy International Animation Film Market has decided to showcase writers and their works (comics, children’s books, manga, graphic novels, etc.) as Pitches, in order to enlighten animation producers of the possible adaptations.

The Comics Mifa Pitches first edition is supported by flagship partners from this sector on an international scale:

• Le Marché international des Droits et des Licences d’Angoulême
• Lyon BD Festival
• Mboa BD Festival (Cameroon)
• Québec BD
• Sevrier BD

The scheme is also an integral part of a territorial approach in collaboration with the Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Livre et Lecture (Livret Bande-dessinée en Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes) and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Cinéma.

Procedures
Each festival put forward 4 works recently spotted and free of rights. A selection committee of animation and comics professionals explore the potential and interest of the works submitted and choose a maximum of 5 works.
