27 in the Running for an Oscar
Among the 27 films on the shortlist for next year’s Oscar are 7 French films or co-productions that were seen in Annecy.
The shortlist for the Oscar for best animated feature has been announced, with a record 27 films in the running, including 7 French films or co-productions that were screened at the Annecy Festival:
- My Life as a Courgette: Cristal for a Feature Film and Audience Award in 2016
- The Red Turtle: Annecy 2016 opening film
- April and the Extraordinary World: Cristal for a Feature Film in 2015
- Long Way North: Audience Award in 2015
- Phantom Boy: presented in a WIP session in 2014 and premiered as a Screening Event in 2015.
- Mune, Guardian of the Moon: in competition in the Official Selection in 2015
- The Little Prince: footage presented in 2014 as a Screening Event
Many of the foreign films were also screened in full or footage shown at the Annecy Festival: 25 April; Ice Age: Collision Course; Bilal: A New Breed of Hero; Storks; The Secret Life of Pets; Finding Dory; Monkey King: Hero Is Back; Trolls; Moana; Snowtime! and Zootopia.
The 5 nominated films will be announced on the 24th January 2017 and you’ll be able to find out the winning feature on the 26th February 2017.
