  The DISCOP Johannesburg winners

The winners of the DISCOP Johannesburg animation pitches have been announced and they will be released during Mifa!

At the beginning of the year Annecy Festival and its Market, the DISCOP and the African Animation Network (AAN) teamed up to launch a call for projects for a competition of African animation pitches.

After several rounds of selection, two projects were crowned. The two winners therefore received automatic entry into the Animation du Monde programme set up by the Annecy International Animation Film Market and will present their projects during the Animation du Monde pitch sessions at Annecy 2018!

Congratulations to:

  • Wendy Spinks and Cléa Mallinson for their short film Mumue – South Africa
  • Ingrid Agbo for the TV series L’Arbre à Palimpseste – Togo

The Mifa also congratulates Brukty Tigabu, for her TV series Tibeb Girls (Ethiopia) that won the acclaimed Turner prize "Best Animated Series and Specials 2017".

Annecy thanks the different jury members, Nick Wilson (African Animation Network), Ariane Suveg (Turner Broadcasting System), Candice Argall (Bugbox Studio), Alizée Dallemagne (Digital Lab Africa), Nuno Martins (The Animation School) and Géraldine Baché (CITIA); as well as the partners of the programme, African Animation Network (AAN), DISCOP and Turner/Cartoon Network.

Rendezvous 12th to 15th June 2018 during the Mifa (the Annecy International Animation Film Market), to participate in the Animation du Monde pitch sessions and discover the two winning projects!
