  The death of Didier Lockwood 

It is with great sadness that the team from the Annecy International Animation Film Festival have learned of the sudden death of Didier Lockwood, the famous French jazz violinist.

Didier Lockwood was passionate about the violin from the age of 6 years old. After studying at the Conservatoire de Calais, Didier Lockwood demonstrated his talent as an excellent jazz violinist.

In parallel with his thousands of concerts in France and abroad, Didier Lockwood received many awards, which included the Victoire de la musique, the Prix SACEM and Jazz Academy, and the Prix Django-Reinhardt. He was awarded the Légion d’honneur, the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, and the Ordre National du Mérite.

He composed the original score for the animated films The Rain Children and Princess of the Sun, both directed by Philippe Leclerc. Lockwood also appeared at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival for the release of The Rain Children in 2003.
