  Yves Jeanneau has died

The entire Annecy Festival team wishes to pay tribute to Yves Jeanneau, a giant within the French documentary industry, who died on 14th November at the age of 69.

Yves Jeanneau, CEO of Sunny Side of the Doc, died on Thursday 14th November. He was both a strong advocate of French documentary film and also one of the pioneers of international co-production.

He started out as a documentary director, then a producer and co-founder of Films d’Ici from 1984 to 2000. He then managed the documentary department at France 2. After returning to documentary production at the Telfrance Group, he fully invested himself in the Sunny Side of the Doc, a festival and event specialising in documentary, that he created in 1989; and in Asian Side of the Doc, created in 2010.

His career as a producer was highlighted by Jean-Xavier de Lestrade’s Murder on a Sunday Morning, that won an Oscar for Best Documentary Film in 2002.

As a cultural event, the Annecy International Animation Film Festival’s team would like to acknowledge Yves Jeanneau’s great professionalism, and to show our full support to the Sunny Side of the Doc team, his family and loved ones.
