Steps to Fly by Nicolás Contes and Rosario Carlino (Argentina)

25th Mar 2021

Winners of the Shortway Call for Projects

Congratulations to Nicolás Contes and Rosario Carlino, winners of the Shortway call for projects with their Argentinian project Steps to Fly.

For the second year running, the Pixelatl Festival and the Mifa Animation du Monde scheme have renewed their partnership for the Shortway call for projects. Once again, it was a huge success with 178 animation short films submitted!

The tough selection gave only 11 projects the opportunity to take part in the digital Bootcamp held on 15th to 19th March 2021. Each project leader was able to meet several French and international experts in individual sessions, in order to clarify and develop their stories.

At the final pitch session on Friday 19th March each project leader was able to show a video presentation of their project. The jury, comprising Caroline Attia (graphical and litterary author), Ivan Zuber (producer, Laïdak Films), Éric Réginaud (Head of Ciclic Animation) and Géraldine Baché (Head of Projects, Mifa) had the difficult task of choosing their winner among a collection of promising projects and talented writers.

However there was one that unanimously stole everyone’s hearts: the project Steps to Fly by Nicolás Contes and Rosario Carlino (Argentina). So, it has been selected for the Animation du Monde Mifa Pitches, check it out in June.

The jury wanted to reward a second project for its passion and "decadence" that promises a short film overflowing with pep and energy! Hence, a Special Distinction was awarded to Where Is My Espresso by Sebastián García, Luisa Velásquez and Felipe Rodriguez (Colombia). You will also be able to discover it in June when it is presented during the Pitch sessions.
