    Carolina Corral earned a PhD in Visual Anthropology. After long years of academic endeavours, she decided to become an independent filmmaker. In 2015, she was awarded the Jóvenes Creadores (young creatives) scholarship from Mexico's National Fund for Culture and the Arts. Her short film "Semillas de Guamúchil" was named Best Documentary at FICUNACH 2016 and "La Batalla" won third place at the Ecofilm Festival 2016.
