This year, the Annecy International Animation Film Festival celebrates Japanese animation, offering you a full program of classics to enjoy from the Land of the Rising Sun! The spotlight shines on the feature film Venus Wars (1989) to offer a glimpse into the amazing talent of director and mangaka Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, well-known for the legendary saga Gundam.

The film takes us to Venus in the year 2089, where a civil war rages between Ishtar and Aphrodia, the two nation-states that share the planet…

With Annecy Classics, the Festival pays tribute to timeless shorts and features to remind us of the great moments in the history of animation. It highlights avant-garde techniques, the journey of brilliant directors, and celebrates key events. Take a break and rediscover the great animated classics!
