A monk finds a fish in the water reservoir of his monastery. He tries to catch it using all kinds of means and, as the film goes on, this becomes increasingly symbolic.

    Born in 1953 in Holland, Michaël Dudok de Wit studied Engraving in Geneva and Animation in England. He animated ads for several studios, including Richard Purdum Productions. He went on to create his own original shorts "The Monk and the Fish" (Special Mention at Annecy 1995, Cartoon d'or, César) and "Father and Daughter" (Grand Prix & Audience Award at Annecy 2001, Cartoon d'or, Oscar). He also illustrates children's books and teaches animation at art colleges in England and abroad.
