An Outstanding Lineup!

Annecy 2016 - MIFA

Opening on Tuesday 13th June with the first-ever Mifa Campus boasting Guillermo del Toro as its patron, this year the Mifa will host all the professional conferences on site as well as the traditional Meetings: Territory Focus, Share With, Mifa Pitches, Mifa Press Conferences, the Video Library… and even recruitment sessions with major animation studios.

More vibrant than ever, the Mifa is taking place at the Impérial Palace from 13th – 16th June 2017 with 1,000 m2 additional surface area!

Here’s a little selection of things you won’t want to miss:

The first-ever Mifa Campus on Tuesday 13th June!

Guillermo del Toro will be the patron of the 1st Mifa Campus: A new day entirely dedicated to students and entry-level animation professionals. He will be presenting a "Conversation" at 2 pm at the Impérial Palace, Verdi A&B, a unique moment for this generation seeking references and sharing experiences.
Carlos Saldanha, director of Ice Age and Rio among others, has also agreed to share an intimate moment with students, young professionals and experts at 9 am in the Tente impériale.

Three kinds of meetings will be held:

>>>  Chat With, sessions, where studios will discuss their work environments, prospective job offers and the kinds of profiles they’re looking for.

Mifa & Variety’s Animation Personality of the Year Award

The 2017 Mifa & Variety’s Animation Personality of the Year Award will be given to Marc Bonny, President of the French distribution company Gebeka Films, and Eric Beckman, CEO of the American distribution company GKIDS. This award will celebrate their respective careers and salute their mutual commitments to policies for distributing independent films. Both men were responsible for putting My Life as a Courgette in the national and international limelight.

DISNEY TELEVISION ANIMATION
Hélène Etzi, Eric Coleman and Orion Ross will talk through their diverse slate of programming on Disney Television Animation, available on Disney Channels’ platforms. As well as showcasing new content, the panel will discuss Disney Television Animation’s place as an industry leader in narration and production of quality animation for television.

European animation's leading partner and a key player in the genre, France Télévisions invites you to come to the Mifa to discover their 2017-2018 animation line-up. They'll also present the developments in their editorial policy and creative exposure at France Télévisions.

THE SYNDICATE OF ANIMATION FILM PRODUCERS
Meet up with the SPFA as they give an update on the Syndicate’s activities over the past year and talk about their main ongoing projects.

LAGARDÈRE ACTIVE, followed by Les Espoirs de l’Animation
Come and hear about the investment strategy of youth channels from the TV group Lagardère Active for French animation and new projects co-financed by Gulli, CANAL J and TiJi.
You can also find out the winners of Les Espoirs de l'Animation 2017: A competition from Gulli, CANAL J and TiJi in partnership with the SPFA, the CNC, the SACD and six French animation schools (La Poudrière, l’EMCA, l’ESAAT, Émile Cohl, RUBIKA and Estienne). For the first time, Les Espoirs de l'Animation have been sponsored by the CSA’s Observatoire éducation et médias.

Women in Animation

Women in Animation and Les Femmes s’Animent, together with the Walt Disney Animation Studios, the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée (CNC), the Société des auteurs et compositeurs dramatiques (SACD) and Hiventy will present the very first WOMEN IN ANIMATION WORLD SUMMIT AT ANNECY at this year’s festival.

The Women in Animation World Summit at Annecy will take place on Monday, June 12th at the Impérial Palace Hotel and will feature a day-long series of panels and discussions covering a range of topics such as “Exploring Unconscious Bias”, “50/50 by 2025 – How are we getting there?”, “Developing Diverse Stories” and “Artist Experiences”.

Additionally, Les Femmes s’Animent and Women in Animation will host a series of breakfast meetings open to all festival attendees from Tuesday-Friday during the festival at the Brasserie du Parc to further discuss these topics in a less formal setting.
