The international competition for Feature Films was announced yesterday. Europe has taken a slight step back, while the Americas and Japan make up most of an eclectic selection in a reflection of current political tensions. The 2018 Festival will give prominence to Brazilian animation and music in animated films.

The meetings and conferences offer a high-quality selection, whereas the Mifa (International Animation Film Market) is strengthening the principles which have contributed to its success while at the same time continuing to innovate.

There are 10 in Competition, 13 out of Competition and 9 presented in Screening Events in world, European or French exclusives.

#Brad Bird, 2018 Honorary Cristal!

Following in the footsteps of Jerzy Kucia, Isao Takahata, Florence Miailhe, Didier Brunner and Georges Schwizgebel, the Festival has decided to pay tribute to an American director, scriptwriter and producer internationally recognised for his talent: Brad Bird. He is known in particular for three major films: The Iron Giant, which received awards at the BAFTAs, and two animated films by Pixar Studios, The Incredibles and Ratatouille, both of which won Best Animated Feature at the Oscars.

Come along between Tuesday 12^th and Friday 15^th June to professional conferences, Mifa Pitches, recruitment sessions and press conferences.

In addition, there will also be new features such as Meet the Composers, Shoot the Book Anim’ and Market Screenings.

With 5,300m² of exhibitor space, which is a 14% increase in space, the Mifa is expanding and spreading out!

#Mifa Campus: a patron, a pioneer

After Guillermo del Toro, it is the creator of the essential The Animator’s Survival Kit who will be the patron of the 2nd Mifa Campus. He will offer his tricks of the trade and advice to students and young talents! Watch the video

#Mifa Animation Industry Award

In 2017, the Mifa hosted the first Women in Animation World Summits. Eager to recognise the commitment, the Mifa decided to give the Mifa Animation Industry Award to the symbolic organisation Women in Animation.
