The Marché du Film and the Annecy Festival team up again to organise Animation Day.

Animation Day, the eagerly awaited event for the worldwide animation film community, will be held on Sunday 19th May at Cannes.

On the programme, and in partnership with the Cannes Marché du Film, will be a screening of the Works in Progress followed by a panel discussion and a cocktail reception for animation producers and enthusiasts.

Annecy is a genuine showcase, making it possible for a selection of films currently in production to present their progress along with exclusive images to the distributors, investors and sales agents present at Cannes in a bid to encourage them to invest in these films.

As part of Animation Day, the Annecy Animation Showcase kicks off at 10:00 am with a presentation of five Work in Progress feature films:

  • Conference of the Birds by Atiq Rahimi and Caroline Piochon, in the presence of the Director and Nahal Tajadod
  • In Waves by Phuong Mai Nguyen, in the presence of Producer Priscilla Bertin
  • The Language of Birds by Cynthia Fernández Trejo, in the presence of the Director, and Producer David Flores Mendieta
  • A New Dawn de Yoshitoshi Shinomiya, in the presence of the Director
  • MU-KI-RA by Estefanía Piñeres, in the presence of Producer Alejandro Zapata Munévar and Marco Velez

Followed by a panel discussion at 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm, during which animation industry experts such as, Dominique Hansen (Head of Communication and Promotion for Film Fund Luxembourg), Virginie Nouvelle (General Director of Wallimage) and Lucía Recalde (Head of Unit at Creative Europe) will discuss the animation genre and its potential for European co-production. The panel will be moderated by Perrine Quennesson, freelance journalist for various web, print and radio media.

This Animation Day will draw to a close with a cocktail reception where participants can enjoy an informal chat over drinks.

See you on Sunday 19th May 2024 at Cannes Marché du Film for this exciting day of discoveries!
