The Annecy Festival is showing a 4K restoration of Gandahar, a French animation film phenomenon!

Gandahar is a French animation film directed by René Laloux in 1987.

After Fantastic Planet (1973) and The Master of Time (1982), the director collaborated with Philippe Caza to conceive this science-fiction animation gem adapted from the book The Machine-Men versus Gandahar by Jean-Pierre Andrevon.

Life is peaceful in the land of Gandahar, they have never known the ravages of industrial civilization or harsh primitive living conditions. Nature, modified over thousands of years, has given birth to a harmonious world. But now the mirror birds, Queen Ambisextra’s eyes, are reporting back from villages whose entire inhabitants have turned to stone.

In addition, discover the short film The Machine-Men, the pilot for Gandahar (1987), restored in 2018.
