The Disney of Duivendrecht, a Businessman's Idea of an Artist
In 1942 Geesink and Toonder set up a joint venture, the "Geesink-Toonder Teekenfilm-Productie". The meeting between Marten Toonder and Joop Geesink is of great significance for the development of animation in the Netherlands, part of the film history that is relatively unknown. The individual companies from the "Geesink-Toonder Teekenfilm-Productie" grew into successful film production companies on international level. For many years they had hundreds of people working. It's an unprecedented success for Dutch standards until the end of the seventies.
