Norman McLaren Inheritance & Pierre Hébert

  1. Overview
  2. Description

The immense inheritance and international influence of experimental film is spotlighted through the work of Norman McLaren and Pierre Hébert.

Norman McLaren has gained world-wide fame through his recognisable and distinctive films, many of which were made using a spontaneous technique for expressing movement without a camera or soundtrack that is still being used by countless artists today.

The hundredth anniversary of McLaren's birth provides the occasion for an exhibition of his artistic legacy and the influence he has had on contemporary creation around the world, shown also through his admirably written correspondence.

Pierre Hébert holds a special place amongst these heirs. The exhibition presents the work of this multidisciplinary artist revealing some of his drawings showing the inner torments of characters inspired by author Nathalie Sarraute, as well as his etchings on film that make him a unique figure on the international animation scene.
