Be drawn into the heart of Guadalajara’s icon aesthetics and discover how it has deeply influenced Mexican animation!

In a tribute to Mexico, José Iñesta has teamed up with seven renowned Mexican animation professionals: Sofía Carrillo, Ana Cruz, Lucía Cavalchini, Tania de León Young, Lourdes Villagómez, Christian Bermejo and Jordi Iñesta. Together, they have carefully concocted nine programmes comprising 88 short films, offering Annecy festivalgoers an enthralling plunge into the richness of this multifaceted culture.

Guadalajara is the birthplace of one of the most iconic aesthetics that defined a generation of Mexican animators: dark, heavy themed, gloomy atmospheres, enchanting music and stop-motion puppets, the heritage of a long tradition of narrative and plastic arts from the State of Jalisco. A generation that followed Rigo Mora and Guillermo del Toro are now paving the way for the younger artists making their own path. From 2001 to 2022.
