Witness the emergence of unique Mexican animated series, a genuine breath of fresh air on international screens!

In a tribute to Mexico, José Iñesta has teamed up with seven renowned Mexican animation professionals: Sofía Carrillo, Ana Cruz, Lucía Cavalchini, Tania de León Young, Lourdes Villagómez, Christian Bermejo and Jordi Iñesta. Together, they have carefully concocted nine programmes comprising 88 short films, offering Annecy festivalgoers an enthralling plunge into the richness of this multifaceted culture.

For the first time ever, Mexico is producing animated originals for international networks. Content from other countries have flooded the Mexican TV screens for decades and local politics have made it almost impossible for animated original series to be created by Mexican talent. However, times change and a new generation has broken all established rules to bring these series to screens. This program, with some of the most recently released shows, has a counterpoint with an episode of the first animated series for television made in Mexico in 1972, as well as an educational television show supported by government television a few years ago, which was the exception to the rule.
